pH Sensors

Laboratory pH Sensors and Ion Selective (ISE) Sensors.

All of our Ion Selective (ISE) electrodes are available in many shapes and lengths to fit a wide variety of applications.

These Ion Selective Electrodes are designed to work with any modern pH/mV meter, ISE/concentration meter, or suitable on-line instrumentation.

Our Electrodes have several advantages over colorimetric, gravimetric, and other methods:

  • They can be used from 0.1 to 10,000 ppm.
  • The ISE electrode bodies are shock-proof and chemically-resistant.
  • Once calibrated, can monitor concentration continuously and analyze the sample within 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Can be placed directly into the sample without sample pre-treatment or destruction of the sample.
  • Inexpensive and great screening tools for identifying dissolved salts in samples.

Currently we manufacture sensors for numerous specific ion measurements. These can be supplied with various options including Mono or Combination, Sealed or Refillable, Rebuildable Sensing Tips, Flushable Reference Junctions and Specialized Reference Electrodes to minimize interference. Direct Replacements are available for all major brands.

VLC currently offers the following Ion Selective Electrodes (ISE):

Conductivity Sensor

Toroidal Conductivity Loop Powered Transmitter Sensor

This Conductivity monitoring system consists of a loop powered transmitter and an electrodeless conductivity sensor in a single package. Temperature compensation is accomplished with a RTD Pt100 built-in to sensor.

Application includes water treatment, cooling tower and water monitoring.

Principle of Operation:

When the electrodeless Conductivity sensor is immersed in the solution to be measured a conductive loop is created through the two toroidally wound coils. An alternating current is applied to one of the coils, which includes a current in the conductive loop. The second coil is used to measure the Conductivity, which is proportional to the induced current in the solution.

The advantages of the electrodeless method are more apparent in measurement applications in which electrode contamination and polarization of a conventional Conductivity system can lead to erroneous readings

Retractable pH Sensor Assembly

Submersible Sensors for pH, ORP, & Conductivity Applications

The Mark I-A and Mark VI-B sensors will continuously monitor pH, ORP, and Conductivity in tanks, vessels, or canals where liquid levels tend to vary. Typical applications include chlorine cells, latex coagulation tanks, and effluent sumps. It can be installed in atmospherically sealed vessels with use of a tank mount fitting (sold separately).

Design Advantages

The Mark 1-A sensor was designed to be ordered as a complete assembly which does not require additional labor or materials (extension pipes, water sealants, wiring adapters or connectors).

This sensor is supplied with a removable guard. The removable guard will simplify cleaning and reduce down-time as well as maintenance expense. Van London-Phoenix Co. has the capability of supplying the numerous electrode designs for maximum electrode life. Furthermore, the Mark 1-A can be customized to mate up with any pH/ORP transmitter commercially available.

The Mark VI-B incorporates a removable drilled guard for optimum protection against electrode breakage. “Front Load” electrode replacement requires minimal disassembly. An all-in-one electrode (measuring, reference and ATC) reduces replacement costs and inventory requirements.

Submersible pH Sensor

Retractable Lock-N-Load pH Sensor or ORP Assembly

All you need to do is Lock-N-Load to install a pH or ORP electrode into any pipeline.

This is the first in-line assembly that doesn’t require ball valves, cables, or costly, complex hardware to quickly insert or remove an electrode from a pipeline without interrupting the process.

The simplicity of its design is what makes it unique. A quarter turn, a pull, and the electrode is isolated from line pressure.

The electrode can now be removed to check calibration.

Available in a variety of materials including CPVC, Kynar and Stainless Steel. A wide selection of pH and ORP electrodes are available for the retractable sensor assembly.
