High Concentration Oil in Water Analyzer | Fuels & VOC's

DTG6 A LED Display, 24 VDC Source 3-wire Switch Output

The MS1700 is a high concentration oil in water analyzer designed to monitor water in industrial processes and to detect fuels and other VOCs in drains and waste water networks. The instrument works by sensing gases or volatiles to provide a non-contact measurement system with very low maintenance requirements.

High Concentration Oil in Water Analyzer Features

  • Wide measuring range up to 100 ppm.
  • Contactless measurement.
  • Not affected by turbidity.
  • Detects fuel oils, PAH, VOCs and BTEX.
  • Continuous measurement.
  • Continuous monitoring.
  • Low operating and maintenance costs.
  • Ideal for the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Low maintenance, no sensor cleaning.
  • Insensitive to turbidity.
  • Field proven technology.

Analyzer Operation

The MS1700 utilizes a contactless measurement technique based on Henry’s Law, sensing headspace gases or volatiles in the sampling tank provided, and provides a measurement system with very low maintenance requirements.

Thanks to the clever design and technology the sensor never touches the water. This results in reduced drift, virtually no fouling, no sensor cleaning and very low maintenance.

The MS1700 has a wide dynamic range that allows it to be used in a wide variety of environments and up to 100 ppm.

The concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and water vapor in the headspace increases until equilibrium is reached with the concentration in the water.

A sample of gas is then taken from the head space and the response analyzed to provide a concentration in ppm of contaminants in the water.

High Concentration Oil in Water Analyzer Applications

  • Refineries and petrochemical.
  • Monitoring of industrial outflows.
  • Monitoring of drain and storm water systems.
  • Detection of fuel pollution in surface water.
  • Industrial wastewater monitoring.
  • Oil detection in cooling water.

What does the MS1700 measure?
It measures the concentration of VOC in water measured against a target gas standard (usually toluene). Other compounds can be also targeted.

How often does the instrument provide a reading?
The instrument provides a reading via the 4-20 mA output continuously.

What is the reported value?
The reported value is Total VOCs in the effluent water, in ppm, is in the range from 1 ppm to 100 ppm.

What is the principle of operation?
The system samples the air above the effluent/sewage continuously; this air is then passed through the sensor which reacts with VOCs and measures their concentration. The concentration is then reported via the analog output.

How is the analyzer calibrated?
The instrument is factory calibrated against toluene.

What are common target gases?
Petroleum Gas, Methane, Iso Butane, Kerosene, Ethanol, Diesel, Iso-butylene, Toluene, Acetone, Xylene, Heptane, Benzene, Methanol Mercaptan

What is the required maintenance? Is it expensive?
The instrument requires a service every 6 months to replace some low-cost components such as activated carbon filters and to ensure there are no air leaks.

What is the warranty?
Every instrument comes with 1 year warranty from the shipment date.

How does the analyzer alert the user to high concentrations of gas?
It incorporates a relay which is switched at a user definable threshold. This can be hardwired to valves/pumps to stop processes very quickly. Alternatively the users SCADA system can also be used.
