Cation Conductivity Analyzer with Automatic Resin Regeneration

SWAN AMI CACE

Cation Conductivity Analyzer, low-maintenance continuous gap-free measurement of conductivity - delivering reliability, efficiency, productivity and gap free trend analyses.

Conductivity Monitor with Automatic Resin Regeneration

SWAN Analytical Instrument’s model AMI CACE cation conductivity analyzer provides reliable specific (total) and cation (acid) conductivity monitoring without the need to regularly replace ion exchange resins, columns or bottles.

The AMI CACE measures conductivity before and after an innovative, automatic cation exchanger. The resin in the exchanger module lasts up to several years as it is continuously regenerated by an electrodionization (EDI) system for gap free operation.

A high precision conductivity monitor sensor first measures the specific conductivity of the sample. The alkalization agent is then removed by a continuously regenerated cation exchange resin. Anionic impurities pass through the the EDI module which are measured by a second conductivity sensor. In addition to specific and cation conductivity, the instrument can also calculate pH and/or alkalizing agent through differential calculation.

Unique features of the SWAN AMI CACE conductivity analyzer:

  • Automatic resin regeneration system.
  • Provides years of specific and cation conductivity measurement without resin exchange.
  • Calculation of the pH value in the range of 7.5 to 11.5 (VGB directive 450L).
  • Calculation of the alkalizing reagent concentration (e.g. ammonia) from 0.01 to 10 ppm.
  • High-precision conductivity sensors with slot-lock system for easy maintenance.
  • Numerous temperature compensation curves.
  • Automatic temperature compensation.
  • Built-in flow-control needle valve and flow monitoring.
  • Automatic daily electronics zero using high-precision resistor.
  • Conductivity monitor measuring range, from 0.055 to 1000 μS/cm.

Count on SWAN’s AMI CACE complete conductivity monitoring system for specific and cationic conductivity monitoring requirements for water steam cycles. The AMI CACE system provides saving in both maintenance time and consumables, potentially saving thousands of dollars per year per instrument in maintenance costs.

Peaking combined cycle power plants
Significantly lower maintenance efforts with automated start-up, shutdown and EDI module deaeration routines. Short rinse down times allow immediate monitoring after start-ups while low resin consumption reduces costs positively.

Industrial power and steam
Cost efficient instrument operation without the need of extensive maintenance.

Nuclear power plants
High pH values require high use of resin in conventional CACE monitoring. Reduce resin consumption with an EDI module and lower waste disposal costs.

Fossil-fired base load power plants
Avoid maintenance times for conductivity monitoring and use less regeneration chemicals in order to reduce operating costs.
