Self Cleaning Suspended Solids Sensor in Aeration Systems

These sensors are typically used in wastewater treatment systems to monitor and maintain high levels of solids to create a desirable environment in the aeration phase of waste water treatment.

These sensors are expected to perform in an extremely harsh environment, so quality sensors are vital to plant operation. Self cleaning (self wiping) sensors are the best option for this environment.

Use sensors within membrane Bio Reactors (MBR) which typically run with MLSS values in the region of 8,000 to 14,000 mg/l. High MLSS concentrations promote numerous process benefits, including stable operation, complete nitrification, and reduced biosolids production reducing biological volume requirements (and associated footprint) to only 20-30 percent of conventional biological processes.

Typical applications will include Membrane Batch Reactors, Mixed Liquor, Returned Activated Sludge and Surplus Activated Sludge processes.

While these sensors are typically used within municipal waste water applications, they can be used in other industrial applications where extreme levels of solids above the ability of a turbidity sensor are found.
