Diborane Gas (B2H6) is flammable, toxic and corrosive and poses a danger to equipment, infrastructure and worker health.

Diborane Gas is a pyrophoric gas which means it can ignite spontaneously in air at or below 54 °C. Diborane detectors make it possible to monitor this gas and to alert operators and plant workers to dangerous levels.

Diborane is used in the semiconductor industry, used as a reducing agent for making other chemicals, as a catalyst, and vulcanizing rubber. Several of its derivatives are also useful reagents.

Why Monitor Diborane Gas for Human Health?

Why Monitoring Exposure to Diborane Gas is Important:

  • Skin and eye irritant.
  • Throat and sinus irritant.
  • Confusion, dizziness, body tremors and vomiting.
  • Danger to lung health.
  • Nervous system damage
  • Organ damage particularly liver and kidneys.

Using reliable gas monitoring for Diborane gas is vital as it poses a danger to health through direct exposure and a danger to life, and infrastructure if it reaches explosive levels.
